I am a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon at Chesterfield and North Derbyshire Royal Hospitals, with a private practice at Spire Claremont Hospital.

I am a keen sportsman myself having represented Great Britain at triathlon and have a specialty interest in groin surgery, both for hernia and sportsman’s groin injuries.

I qualified from Sheffield University and gained my fellowship in general surgery in 1997 and trained in a wide range of centres around the world including Australia, Scotland and Germany.

Mr Richard Slater qualified at Nottingham Medical School in 1993 and obtained the FRCS in 1998. He trained in the Leeds, Nottingham and Sheffield and spent 2 years in research on colorectal cancer metastases, which led to an MD thesis in 2006. In 2006 Mr Slater obtained his CCT, and spent 6 months as a Clinical Fellow in Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery at St Marks Hospital.

In 2006 he was appointed as a Consultant Surgeon with a special interest in colorectal surgery to Rotherham General Hospital, South Yorkshire. Since then, he has developed his clinical interests, which have included laparoscopic and minimal invasive surgery techniques, in the fields of general surgery and coloproctology.

I am a Consultant General Surgeon at the Northern General Hospital, with a busy private practice at Spire Claremont Hospital.

I have been a consultant specialising in colon, rectal and anal problems as a consultant since 2002 and as a Professor of Surgery at the University of Sheffield since 2016. I have trained mainly locally in Sheffield, graduating in 1990.

I was trained in colonoscopy initially by a Japanese specialist and subsequently in Singapore. I have carried out over 5,000 procedures and am involved in the National Bowel Cancer screening programme. As a consequence of training most procedures can be carried out without the need for sedation. I use novel techniques including Over The Scope Clip (OTSC) for fistula surgery.

I also have an interest in hernia surgery and offers laparoscopic (keyhole) hernia surgery for all different types of hernia.

I am a Consultant Upper GI & General Surgeon based at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, with a private practice at Spire Claremont Hospital.

My main interest is in upper gastrointestinal and laparoscopic surgery, with a focus on the management of gastro-oesophageal reflux (fundoplication) and upper GI cancers (including Barrett’s oesophagus). I also have an interest in minimally invasive hernia and gallbladder surgery and day case surgery.

I qualified from the University of Glasgow in 1994 and subsequently trained in surgery in Leeds, Newcastle and Sheffield, as well as a year as a Upper GI Fellow at Concord Repatriation General Hospital in Sydney. I was initially appointed as a Consultant Upper GI & General Surgeon at Doncaster Royal Infirmary in 2007 and moved to Sheffield in 2013.

I have a large experience in laparoscopic surgery for colorectal cancer, diverticular disease and inflammatory bowel disease with excellent results. I am a skilled endoscopist and perform >500 procedures per year (gastroscopy, sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy). I have considerable experience of treating haemorrhoids using latest techniques (THD, HALO) and other anal conditions including skin tags, fissures, fistula in ano. I perform all types of hernia repair (umbilical, inguinal, incisional, recurrent) with excellent results.

Mr Mark Peterson qualified in 1991 in Leicester, he has worked throughout the Midlands and Yorkshire and has been a Consultant Specialist in Gallstone Liver and Pancreatic disease in the regional specialist referral unit in Sheffield for over 15 years.

Mr Peterson specialises in laparoscopic and endoscopic treatment of gallstones and is the lead clinician for the regional ERCP unit. He is the Multi-Disciplinary Team lead clinician for liver and Pancreas cancer for South Yorkshire.

Mr Peterson specialises in both open and laparoscopic abdominal wall hernia repair.

In my NHS practice I have established a complex abdominal wall reconstruction service for the assessment, management and repair of complex, giant or recurrent abdominal wall hernias. I regularly undertake advanced laparoscopic surgery for gallbladder, bowel and hernia problems, as well as upper (gastroscopy) and lower (colonoscopy/flexible sigmoidoscopy) gastrointestinal endoscopy.

I trained in Sheffield and qualified in 1982. I undertook surgical training in Leicester and Sheffield. Further specialist training was undertaken in Japan and Hong Kong. I was appointed as Consultant Surgeon in 1996.

My major subspecialist interest is in the management of upper gastrointestinal diseases particularly oesophago-gastric cancer. I also have a major interest in the management of gallstone disease and practice therapeutic biliary endoscopy (ERCP). My other major clinical interest is hernia surgery.
